World architecture day

Today is the World Architecture Day. World Architecture Day was created by the International Union of Architects (UIA) and is celebrated on the first Monday of October. The aim of the architecture day is to celebrate architects that are designing and building our common environment and to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of our cities and settlements.

Each year organisations around the world participate in the World Architecture Day by setting up a number of events and activities, such as exhibitions, panel discussions, conferences and more. All activities are linked to the current year’s theme, which is announced by the International Union of Architects. The theme for 2016 is “Design a Better World”. The theme aims to remind about the global challenges and highlights the essential role of design in enhancing the quality of life. “Design a Better World” promotes the power of architecture to cope with climate change and contribute to the creation of strong, safe and productive communities.
